With lots of events happening in our region throughout the calendar year, Denmark is a great place to base yourself to enjoy all that’s on offer. Our accommodation is located 10 minutes out of town at Ocean Beach, a quiet place to stay after a busy day.
Across the road from your chalet take advantage of the dual cycle and walk path which takes you to town in one direction and Ocean Beach in the other. Cycle or walk from Ocean Beach to Lights Beach on the new Wilderness Ocean Walk Trail.
The Bibbulmun Track, an amazing walk trail, enables you to see the spectacular coastline and hinterland in the Denmark area. Pack a lunch, plenty of water and enjoy a day walk.
Mt Lindesay National Park has a walk trail to the summit - enjoy magnificent granite outcrops with a variety of wildflowers at most times of the year and views in all directions when you reach the top.
Ocean Beach is just up the road and Greens Pool at William Bay National Park is about 20 minutes away, magic on a Summer’s Day, and while you’re there, drop in to Mad Fish Bay.
Surfing is popular across at Ocean Beach, Parry’s and Light’s Beach. Keen kitesurfers can also be found at Ocean Beach in the windy summer periods.
The delightful town of Denmark sits on Wilson Inlet, which offers excellent king George whiting and flathead, with Skippy, herring, bay (small pink) snapper and blue swimmer crabs common. A dinghy is a big advantage. Ocean Beach provides surf fishing for skippy, tailor, mulloway and silver bream, and just west at William Bay, salmon, herring and king George can be added to bags.
The wildlife along the Denmark coast is as diverse as the countryside. One of the top six areas in the world for bio-diversity, this southernmost coast is a wildlife wilderness. There are even several species of birds and animals which can be found nowhere else on earth. Denmark provides a range of perfect bird habitats and around 160 species of birds have been recorded in the area.
